Dr. Samantha Musho, DVM, CVMA

Certified-Veterinary Medical Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a non-painful method of stimulating specific points on the body, resulting in a release of endorphins and providing relief of pain and inflammation. Here is a list of some of the conditions that may respond to Acupuncture;

  • Arthritis
  • Hip Dysplasia
  • Back Injuries (Intervertebral Disk Disease)
  • Orthopedic and Soft tissue injuries
  • Terminal cancer pain
  • Allergies
  • Lick Granulomas
  • Ear Infections
  • Vestibular Disease
  • Epilepsy
  • Inappropriate urination
  • Urinary and fecal incontinence
  • Asthma
  • Anxiety
  • Dry eye (KCS)
  • Gastrointestinal disorders
  • And many more…

Acupuncture therapy is used when conventional therapy and/or medications are ineffective or are having undesirable side effects and where surgery is not feasible, and sometimes in conjunction with medications to reduce the dosage needed or to improve the response. Acupuncture has been used successfully for nearly 4000 years on animals as well as humans. It is not a cure all but where it is indicated it works well.

As with any therapy, proper diagnosis is essential for a successful treatment outcome. It is imperative that acupuncture be preceded by a thorough and accurate medical diagnostic work-up.
